Last week we read about using Minecraft in the classroom. Some teachers are incorporating the creation of Language Arts or Social Studies topics in the virtually gaming world. Students used the article in our Science World Magazine and the blog post shared at the following link:

It's important for students to be able to read about current trends and topics. Not only should students learn to read from textbooks, but they should be reading from magazines, blogs, and other webpages. Being literate the the 21st-Century looks much different than literacy in the past. Do you think that technology plays a role in literacy? (Literacy is defined as the ability to read and write)
Trista and Izzy: "After reading the 2 articles we came to a final decision that minecraft should be used in class. It should depend on the day and occasion in class yet we think that less than an hour is plenty!"
Lila and Keely: "We think that it is a great idea, but as long as it is for education. We also think that it needs to involve what they are learning about."
Logan and Eli: "Video games can be fun, but you don't want to play too much because then you would get distracted from school."
Gavin and Ben: "The stories explain that it can teach engineering, and in one story they built the Alamo!"
For three extra-credit points in Language Arts, comment below about what it means to be "literate in the 21st-Century."
